Please join us for a virtual information session on the Opt-in Specialized Energy Code for residential buildings.

Andover is considering adopting an opt-in specialized energy building code. This new code has been adopted by a total of 31 communities, or approximately 25% of the MA population. Whether you are steeped in understanding building codes, or don’t know what a residential building code is, come to learn more at this webinar.

This is the second information session Andover WECAN and the Town of Andover have sponsored on the specialized opt-in energy building code. This forum will focus on the residential aspect of the opt-in specialized energy code. The opt-in specialized energy code only applies to new construction.

Come to learn:

  • What the opt-in specialized energy code is
  • Why it’s important for the town and for individual homeowners
  • What it’s like living in an all-electric home,
  • What resources are available to help residents building new homes to this code.

Hear from our panel of experienced professionals and residents including:

  • Dillan Patel from the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) who will explain the code
  • Aaron Gunderson who is with Passive House MA, who will explain the benefits of the code
  • Mrunal Daftari, Andover resident living in an all-electric home, who will share his experience
  • Michael Rossi from PSD who will share resources available for building new homes to code

Ask the panelists your questions. Gain clarity on the Specialized Code requirements above and beyond the Stretch Code currently in place.

We welcome your questions in advance of the panel. Please submit questions you have on the specialized building code to Joyce Losick Yang, Director of Sustainability for the Town of Andover: Joyce.LosickYang@andoverma.us
