Join Allison Kemmerer, Director at the Addison Gallery of American Art, for a discussion of the photographic projects that Frank and Webb created during travels through the United States in 1955.
Organized by the Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Robert Frank and Todd Webb: Across America, 1955 presents photographs that Robert Frank and Todd Webb created separately during their 1955 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowships. Though the men had no knowledge of each other at the time, their strikingly similar images revealed popular cultural trends and shared ideologies that challenged the idealistic purity of the “American Roadtrip.” The exhibition is on view at the Addison Gallery of American Art through July 31, 2024.
Space is limited and registration is required.
Please note this event will take place at the Addison Gallery of American Art on the campus of Phillips Academy.
If you would like to learn more about the exhibition, watch the recording of our presentation with curator Lisa Volpe from the Museum of Fine Art, Houston.
