Wizards, sorcerers, and other spellcasters have gone missing throughout the Kingdom of Cortis. Mort the wizard was investigating these disappearances, when he went missing himself. Prince Julianus, as a representative for the royal family, has officially commissioned an adventuring party to track down Mort and unravel the mystery of these missing mages. The adventuring party includes red dragonborn brothers Balasar the Brave, a paladin/warlock, and Kyurenite the Flamekeeper, a fighter; blue dragonborn Douglas, a wizard; Konrad Darkshadow, a half-elf ranger; and Kragstepper, a goblin artificer. Our heroes were sent out into the capital city of Andunder and made their way to Mystic Hall Library, where Mort was conducting research.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the library was locked in the middle of the day. Kragstepper successfully picked the lock, while Konrad Darkshadow sent his familiar, a hawk, to scout ahead. Konrad's hawk reports back that the librarian is in combat with a group of Nothics, one-eyed creatures drawn to ancient magic and arcane secrets. With a final powerful team-up breath weapon attack from Douglas, Balasar, and Kyurenite, the adventurers defeated the Nothics and were able to speak with the librarian, who informed them that Mort checked out a book about ancient and forbidden magic. After looking at its contents, the adventuring party learns that Mort traveled to a lost temple in the Ego Desert - so that's where the story will begin in this session of Dungeons & Dragons for Kids!
