The story so far...

Wizards, sorcerers, and other spellcasters have gone missing throughout the Kingdom of Cortis. Mort the wizard was investigating these disappearances, when he went missing himself. Prince Julianus, as a representative for the royal family, has officially commissioned an adventuring party to track down Mort and unravel the mystery of these missing mages. The adventuring party includes Lynx, a tabaxi druid/rogue; Neil the All-Knowing, a half-elf wizard; Serra, an elf bard/wizard; Nox, a blue dragonborn sorcerer/artificer; Sapphire, a human druid/wizard; and Cadmus, a blue dragonborn chronurgy wizard/artificer. Our heroes were sent out into the capital city of Andunder and made their way to Mystic Hall Library, where Mort was conducting research.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the library was locked in the middle of the day. Cadmus attempted to magically unlock the door, but there was an enchantment blocking it. Sapphire looked for an open window so that she could turn into a small creature and sneak through, but they were all sealed. Lynx managed to pick the lock and get everyone inside, where Neil, Nox, and Serra deduced that whatever prompted the library to shutdown happened fast and wasn't caused by anything breaking in. Using stealth and invisibility, the party found the librarian in combat with a group of Nothics, one-eyed creatures drawn to ancient magic and arcane secrets. The adventurers leapt into action - Serra and Lynx shifted into animals to attack, Cadmus and Neil used magic to throw books at the creatures, and Serra and Nox teamed up for a devastating final attack combining Nox's lightning breath and Serra's shatter spell. The adventurers were able to speak with the librarian, who informed them that Mort checked out a book about ancient and forbidden magic. After looking at its contents, the adventuring party learns that Mort traveled to a lost temple in the Ego Desert - so that's where the story will begin in this session of Dungeons & Dragons for Kids!
