The story so far...

Arriving in the Ego Desert, the adventuring party discovers a huge sandstorm in the desert. Their royal escorts drop them off at the Not-A-Mirage Inn, where the owner, Gav, welcomes them. The group passes some time in the inn, hoping the sandstorm will pass quickly - Kragstepper wins four pairs of goggles in a card game, Douglas finds an incredibly old book of dark magic on a Nat 20 arcana check, and Konrad, Kyurenite, and Balasar were joined by Aarakocra sorcerer Maywind Flame Claw, red Dragonborn fighter Ember, and Green Dragonborn druid Spike on a taste-test of Gav's mother's chicken recipe. After improving the recipe, those who ate Gav's chicken dish felt stronger and more fortified. The party suggested staying at the inn until the sandstorm passed, but Gav informed them that sandstorms typically last several months in the Ego Desert - however, Gav offered to bring them to the lost temple on a skiff pulled by his two dire lions, which the group agreed to. On their way to the temple, the party was ambushed by a group of bandits and they are now locked in combat with the desert marauders...
