Beginner level D&D for ages 8-11 years old! This session is for kids in the Blue Dragons group! If there is space, registration will open for any players who would like to drop in for this session.
Arriving in the Ego Desert, the adventuring party discovers a huge sandstorm in the desert. Their royal escorts drop them off at the Not-A-Mirage Inn, where the owner, Gav, welcomes them despite an aggressive greeting from the wild card of the group, Mike the Minotaur. The group passes some time at the inn - Sapphire receives a pair of goggles from an elf she played cards with, Nox and Serra work together to win a game of flaming darts against two sorcerers and win some goggles, Mike the Minotaur and Neil-the-All-Knowing win goggles in an arm wrestling contest against a trio of gnome artificers with a mech arm and a wizard with a boosted mage hand, Cadmus discovers a book of dark magic in the inn's book nook, and Lynx and Collava survey the area outside the inn using their druid shapeshifting. Gav speaks with them again, explaining that they had previously helped Mort travel to the lost temple through a sandstorm when he came here to investigate the missing mages - Gav offers to do the same with the adventuring party.
As the group nears the lost temple on Gav's skiff pulled by two dire lions, they're suddenly ambushed by a group of bandits! The bandit leader casts a spell to raise a huge rock wall, blocking the party from continuing towards the temple. The group fights their way through the bandits, using the goggles they received at the inn to improve their eyesight amidst the sandstorm. Spells are cast, druids turn into all types of creatures (including a penguin) to attack the bandits, and the bandit leader is dispatched quickly. As the last bandit is defeated and the marauders retreat, Neil-the-All-Knowing claims the leader's helmet as a souvenir. Gav recommends they move on towards the temple, as the bandits are likely to come back in greater number. The party approaches the lost temple, and Gav gasps in shock: the temple is almost completely buried in the sand, with only the once mighty spire visible above the dunes. The party will have to find a way into the temple to continue their investigation!
