We Were Always Here: Uncovering Queer History in Every Era

From the Friends of Dorothy to Boston marriages, LGBTQIA+ people have been living as their authentic queer selves in every era, in every culture. Join us online for this pride month event.
Genderqueer inclusion consultant, Ali Kane (she/they) will share queer stories from the 1600s to the 1960s. From these accounts, you will gain a glimpse into queer lives throughout history, as well as explore how these truths were uncovered and strategies for preserving queer history today.
Through case studies, you will learn how historians continue to grapple with validating these experiences within 21st Century understanding of identity, gender, and family.
This program is in partnership with the Joshua Hyde Public Library.
