In this class, you will learn the principles of fermentation via a demonstration of how to make a lactofermented hot sauce and hot pepper mash.
Emily Makrez will show you how to turn your hot peppers into a fiery and delicious condiment that will last. The demonstration will include the basic principles of fermentation so you will leave with the knowledge and confidence to be able to safely ferment practically anything! We will also touch on the benefits of lacto-fermented food and how adding these foods to our diets are a benefit to our overall
health.
Emily Makrez, Owner of F-Word Farm: a place for farming, foraging and fermenting, is back for another great fermentation workshop. Her interest in food took her to Seattle to pursue a Master's degree in nutrition at Bastyr University, but a love of New England brought her back home to start her own farm and delve deeply into the world of fermentation (lacto, koji, vinegar, & alcoholic) and foraging. She focuses on using every last bit of what nature provides and making it taste delicious.
