Casey from Nourish Our World will be in Memorial Hall to discuss ways you can grow your own food, even if space is limited.
This course is designed for anyone who wants to grow their own food, regardless of available space. You don't need a yard, and you don't need to rely on traditional raised beds or plastic containers. We will explore alternative, sustainable methods for growing food that are both simple and effective. Specifically, the course will introduce the Ruth Stout Method, which uses layers of hay (or other organic materials) instead of soil as well as Hydrafiber which is an alternative to using peat moss.
You'll learn how to grow vegetables, herbs, and more in small spaces, like balconies, patios, or even indoors, using eco-friendly practices that eliminate the need for tilling or heavy labor. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gardener looking for new methods, this course will equip you with the knowledge to start growing your own food at home—no matter where you live.
Don't forget to visit the Seed Library located on Level I in the library for free seeds, helpful handouts, and seed catalogs.
