You’ve probably heard “Save The Bees!” but do you know which bees need saving? In this webinar, Dr. Nick Dorian explains why it's native bees not honey bees, that desperately need our attention.

There are over 4000 species of native bees in North America, and they come in every size, shape, and color you can imagine. Drawing from a decade of his own research on native bees, Nick will reveal the secrets of their lives including the intricate relationships they have with flowering plants and other insects. You’ll come away with clear, simple action items for how your garden can help these important pollinators.

Dr. Nick Dorian is an ecologist, an educator, and a naturalist. He received his Ph.D. from Tufts University where he studied the ecology and conservation of wild bees. At Tufts, Nick also co-founded and ran the Tufts Pollinator Initiative, which worked to build capacity for community-based pollinator conservation through habitat creation, place-based education, and ecological research. Currently, Nick is a post-doctoral researcher at the Chicago Botanic Garden where he studies the role of pollinator gardens in biodiversity conservation.

Visit the Andover Seed Library, located on Level 1 of the library, for native seeds perfect for supporting our local pollinators.
