This Fish On! event has been cancelled. We hope to see you at another event later in February.
Carl Jappe grew up Wakefield, and spent summers at his family’s cottage on Horn Pond, which sits on the border of New Hampshire and Maine at the headwaters of the Salmon Falls River. He started fishing when he was very young, took up flyfishing and fly tying at age 11, and fished rivers and ponds near the cottage and up into the White Mountains. On hikes and backpacking trips his walking stick was a Fenwick 2-piece rod tube with a rubber cup taped to the end. And he always had a camera.
In 1986 Carl made his first trip to Alaska. What he thought would be the trip of a lifetime became a lifetime of trips. This year he’ll be making his 39th visit to the Great Land. Most of his experience there has been in the early season, targeting rainbow trout, king salmon, sockeye salmon, and grayling. He’s fished numerous well-known rivers, including the Kvichak, Naknek, Kenai, Gulkana, Talkeetna, Togiak, Kanektok, Brooks, and many other notable streams. And when he isn’t fishing, he’s photographing landscapes and wildlife.
The Fish On! series takes place annually on Tuesday evenings in February. Fishing videos will air beginning at 6:30pm. Join us for discussion and raffles. Carl's presentation will start at 7:00pm.
The Fish On! series is sponsored by the Friends of Memorial Hall Library.
