Concert: Big Woods Voices
Saturday, April 11
2:30pm - 3:30pm
Memorial Hall Library
Memorial HallCelebrate National Poetry Month with Big Woods Voices, singing original musical arrangements of poetry reflecting diverse musical influences in unaccompanied four-part vocal harmony.
Their repertoire celebrates poets old and new, American roots genres, world folk styles, and Will Danforth’s deep creative well. From heart-stopping to foot-stomping, prayerful to fun-filled, dissonant to dulcet, Big Woods Voices brings the spirit of southern Vermont to life through rich harmonies and soulful interpretations.
For this special National Poetry Month concert, Big Woods Voices will highlight compositions inspired by the poetry of W.B. Yeats, David Whyte, Wendell Berry, Alice Oswald, Daniel Leavens Cady, and others.
Big Woods Voices unites four veteran singers in celebrating their common passion for a cappella harmony:
- Will Danforth- Phillips Academy alum, singer-songwriter, traditional acoustic artist, and arranger/composer
- Amanda Witman- Andover native, founder and leader of the Brattleboro Pub Sing
- Alan Blood- long-time member of the Blanche Moyse Chorale, I Cantori, Blue Moon and House Blend
- Becky Graber- founder and leader of the Brattleboro Women’s Chorus
We are excited to welcome this group with strong ties to Andover back to the community for a wonderful afternoon of music and poetry.
This concert is sponsored by the Friends of Memorial Hall Library.
